We consider kindergarten as a critical positing stage where we let our children become. For this reason, our kindergarten or preschool curriculum, approach and methodology is blended but primarily Montessori based whose emphasis and results is the development of the whole child and designed to meet the intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of a growing child. To maximize and realize these results in a growing child, Montessori method advocates for child-centred approach and activities aligned to the growth and developmental milestones of the child. Our approach to learning in preschool is therefore an intentional emphasis on the whole child knowing full well that when children are allowed opportunities to play with ideas in different situations and with a variety of resources, they discover connections and come to new and better understandings and ways of doing things.
Adult support in this process enhances their ability to think critically and ask questions. So when your child asks you questions it is well in order. We strongly believe that preschool-aged children learn and grow most through fun and play, hence the reason we strive to create an environment of fun and hands-on learning by providing varied activities and having a range of toys and materials for children to choose from. A construction area offers opportunities where they can develop gross and fine motor skills, along with discovering simple scientific and mathematical concepts. There is a book reading area and circle times when language/listening skills are developed through storytelling, a mark making area where children will be encouraged to find the appropriate materials to start and develop hand to eye co-ordination which in turn is meant to developearly writing skills while fine motor control is developed through cutting and gluing activities.
